Nocturnity is dead!

Votes have been tallied, including those oppinions lodged previously online or off and in comments.

The majority of people voted to give the remaining money to charity.

I will ask Meli to post another pole to decide on which charity, please reply with suggestions. With Christmas being so close I'll suggest the money goes on toys or giftvouchers from Kmart to be placed under the Kmart giving tree for children who would otherwise not be getting presents this year. Whatever the final decision the reciept/reciepts will be scanned and posted on the community for all to see and if the vote goes towards putting gifts under the tree I will invite you all to come witness this being done.

Those of you that wanted to keep it going may be unsure as to why the decision has been made to wind it down.

Nocturnity has garnered a bad reputation by fair means or foul.

While it would be possible in future to run a club with the remaining money, what Nocturnity was supposed to be would not be possible. Given the vote and the feeling that any club that came out of the remaining money would not be in the original spirit of Nocturnity - it is best that the money that is left, which belongs to noone, should go to charity as per the vote rather than financing another enterprise.

In the end, it comes down to the vote. Majority rules at Nocturnity, and while that has been debated and subject to change I think it fitting that in the end we go out as we started, with the emphasis on what the majority of the community wants.

Obviously people will be angry and disagree but what Nocturnity should have reinforced to everyone is that you can't please everyone. It's time to end it but another thing to be learn't is that if you want to, you can put a club together, and you can make it happen. It won't always last and there are many mistakes you can learn by but you can give it a go.

Thankyou to everyone ever involved either by vollunteering, turning up or other. Thankyou to Cassie and Sara for proving you can take an idea a long way.

adios and goodnight people, I look forward to seeing our DJ's continue and maybe some new clubs run by familiar faces turn up when the time is right.

xxoo Cat.

Everything that has a beginning has an end. Thanks to those who gave me the opportunity to do what I've done.

I think I'd prefer if we waited three more days. Then it's been up online for a week, and people will have had more than enough time to vote (imo).

I think KMart giftcards left under that giving tree would be awesome. We could do a bunch of $15 giftcards that would really be great for someone (and let them buy what they wanted, instead of what we thought they wanted).

you cant actually leave giftcards under the tree:

"To participate in the appeal, simply leave a gift under the Wishing Tree located at the front of any Kmart store. Take a gift tag from the tree to identify the appropriate age and gender of a suitable recipient and place it with your gift. Alternatively, you can make a cash contribution at any Kmart store register. All cash contributions are converted by Kmart into Kmart gift cards, which will be distributed to people in need by the welfare groups, allowing appeal recipients to choose their own Christmas gift."

OK. I'm still very pro giftcards, since people can then buy what they need.

with both parts of just the first?

Nothing is happening with the money until I am certain everyone has been paid. Aerodrama said she was never paid from February, I need confirmation of what she was owed (who has the reciepts?)and for her to give me bank details.

I'm glad you like the Kmart idea :) Giftcards mean they can chose what they want.

uh magically i missed this poll

please explain?

i'm not happy with the club being shut down, and doubly not happy with it being because of some "reputation" that i haven't heard of

but, do what you must do, since a project is only worth the sweat of it's makers

did you not see it? I think Meli made it a friends locked post to the community, if you havent got it on the friends list or are not listed as a community friend maybe you were unable to see it, but in any case I counted your comment in reply to Cassies post as a "for keeping it running" when doing the tally.

ah was becoming curious as to what was happenin with Noc. took the community any anything to do with it off my lj list becuase to be honest it was turning into a club that I didn't want to have nething to do with, even tho I was a co-founder. reason being is that the ideas that cass and I came up with changed over time into what ended up leading to Nocturnity's demise and poor reputation.

the idea in the start was noble but was tainted by a lotta people who wanted to be nazis within Nocturnity or just within the brizzy goth scene.
sad sad state of affairs.
but yes, thats why I didn't see the post till now so sorry im a tad late. kmart idea sounds good and thanks for the kudos btw :)

anyways thats my 2 cents for the year :) adios amigos! thanks to all who tried.
